Atlanta Van Accident Injures Five Children, Train Injures One

Five children were injured in an Atlanta van accident along Macedonia Road near Belgarde Place SE, on Thursday afternoon, November 18. The five children were immediately taken to  Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston hospital for treatment. Fortunately, their injuries were non-life-threatening.

Reports have it that the accident occurred just before 3 pm when a pickup truck crashed into a van transporting six children. According to Atlanta Police, the pickup truck was trying to merge in the same lane the truck had already occupied. None of the drivers in both vehicles sustained any injuries. The Atlanta police department is currently investigating the Atlanta van accident.

On the same Thursday in Atlanta, a freight train accident injured one man near Morningside Nature Preserve. According to the Atlanta Police, officers arrived at the crash scene at about noon. That was after receiving reports of a CSX train striking a pedestrian. 

The injured man was rushed to the hospital by Atlanta Fire and Rescue, who also responded at the accident scene.  As of the time of this report, the identity of the accident victim remains unknown. The report also stated that the man’s injuries were pretty severe. The police department is still investigating the accident.

The Morningside Nature Preserve has walking trails that stretch through South Fork Peachtree Creek. That’s between Lenox and Cheshire Bridge roads. 

It also has a rail line that passes the reserve’s north and runs below a bridge on Cheshire Bridge Road. It’s the same track gutted by fire following a natural gas leak around August this year.
