Injured Woman Found 12 Hours Following Hall County Accident

July 19, 2021

A woman who was injured in a single-vehicle Hall County accident that caused the death of the driver was not found until 12 hours after the crash.

The Hall County accident happened on Old Cornelia Highway around 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Twenty-seven-year-old Forsyth resident Connor William Wales passed away at Northeast Georgia Hospital. His passenger, a 22-year-old woman from Gainesville, was taken to the same facility for treatment.

GSP said the two were driving along the highway when their vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree. This caused the car to overturn, go down a 50-foot embankment, and then land on its roof.

A resident said he heard a loud crash while at home and went to try to find the source but was unsuccessful. He checked the area again on Sunday and heard a woman calling for help.

He found the vehicle and contacted GSP.

According to GSP, the cause of the crash is still under investigation. However, the authorities suspect that Wales had drugs and alcohol in his system.

Meanwhile, the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office recently said it is investigating a crash that killed a spectator at a Hart Country race track on July 3.

Media reports say Paul Ballenger of Royston was killed when a driver lost control of a car during a race and struck a wall. The car went over the wall and through a fence before entering the stands.

The car struck Ballenger and two other people reportedly suffered injuries.

Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King said investigators will be looking at whether the race track owners’ permits were current and the track up to code.

If you suffered injuries in a crash because of another driver’s negligence, you may be entitled to compensation. Reach out to a Georgia car accident lawyer for advice on whether you have a case.
