Police are investigating an early morning crash in Sandy Springs that left a pedestrian dead on March 1.
The crash happened on Ga. 400 near Roberts Drive. Police responded to the scene at 1 a.m. and discovered a man lying on the highway.
Based on eyewitness statements and physical evidence at the scene, traffic investigators determined that the man had been involved in another crash before he was struck.
After the first accident, he reportedly exited his car and started walking. Another vehicle in the same lane subsequently struck him. The man, whose name the authorities are withholding until his next of kin is notified, died on the scene of the crash in Sandy Springs.
Both the driver who was involved in the first collision and the one who struck the man stayed on the scene and they both called 911.
As investigations continue into the matter, anyone who has information about what happened has been asked to email Sandy Springs Police Traffic Investigator B. Smith at BSmith@SandySpringsGA.Gov or call 770-551-6929.
Meanwhile, two people died after they were ejected from a vehicle around an hour later.
The victims have been identified as 24-year-old Alexsia Taylor and her 39-year-old uncle Ricardo Danielly.
The crash happened on Wimbish Road as the two made their way to a hospital to visit Taylor’s sister who had suffered a gunshot injury.
Bibb County Sheriff Deputies said the car went off the road and struck a pole and the impact threw the occupants from the vehicle.
Danielly was pronounced dead at the scene by officials from the Coroner’s Office. First responders took Taylor to Atrium Health Navicent where she succumbed to her injuries just after 5 a.m.
