A 62-year-old resident of Marietta died over the weekend after he was struck by a car.
He has been identified as Anthony Robinson and the accident occurred around 9:15 p.m. on Saturday.
Investigators say the gray 2018 Toyota Camry that struck him was going west on Windy Hill Road in the direction of Olive Springs Road.
Cobb County police spokeswoman, Officer Shenise McDonald, said Robinson was not using a crosswalk when he was hit.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The unnamed driver of the Camry did not suffer any injuries and they were not immediately facing any charges in connection with the accident.
However, the accident is still under investigation and anyone who has additional information has been asked to contact the police at 770-499-3987.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 5,977 pedestrians died in traffic crashes in the United States in 2017. This means that on average, one person died every 88 minutes. Some fatal accidents involved both pedestrians and drivers who were above the legal limit.
