Three People Injured in Mt Airy Two-Car Collision

A woman suffered two broken legs, and others sustained different injuries following a Mt Airy two-car collision. The accident occurred on Sunday evening, December 12th. Failure to yield appears to have caused the accident.

The collision happened a little after 5 p.m. at the intersection of Dicks Hall Parkway and Sixth Street. According to the Georgia State Patrol, Jonathan Downer, 45, failed to yield while turning left onto Sixth Street. As a result, he pulled into the path of a GMC 3500 pickup truck, heading north.

The truck hit the Toyota Avalon operated by Downer, injuring the man and four passengers, including a 1-year-old girl. The driver, the baby, and one adult passenger, D.J. Arrowood, 25, of Cleveland, sustained minor wounds. Two other passengers sustained severe injuries.

The state patrol said Cheryl Downer 65, of Mt Airy, suffered two broken femurs, and Linda Gragg, 64, of Mt Airy, broke her wrist and suffered a laceration to her head. Habersham EMS conveyed the two women to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment. A passenger in the pickup, 44-year-old Angela Lance of Gainesville, also received treatment at the hospital.

The truck driver, Brent Clark, 44, of Mt Airy, did not sustain any injury. GSP Post 7 Commander Donnie Sadler said charges are pending. There is no additional information about the Mt Airy two-car collision at this time.

There is usually a fault party and a victim in a two-vehicle collision. The fault driver compensates the victim for injuries suffered because of the collision. Compensation covers medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, vehicle repair, etc.

The compensation claims process is usually complex as insurance companies do not like paying settlements. As such, crash victims need to protect their rights by hiring a Georgia car accident lawyer. Contact our firm today for more information.
