About Dougherty County Superior Court
The Dougherty County Superior Court holds the highest authority in trial courts. It possesses exclusive jurisdiction over felony cases, matters concerning land titles, divorce cases, and equity cases. The court’s routine operations involve conducting hearings for pending cases, overseeing bench and jury trials, and managing administrative aspects.
Scheduling hearings in Superior Court is initiated by attorneys representing parties involved in lawsuits. Trial dates are set, judgments are entered, and sentences are imposed and executed as part of the court’s regular operations, handling an annual caseload of around 4,950 cases.
Additionally, the Dougherty County Superior Court oversees all other courts in Dougherty County to ensure indigents receive legal counsel in criminal proceedings.
