More Than a Dozen Charges for Driver Accused of Killing Toddler

A driver is facing 15 charges after being accused of killing a toddler and injuring the 2-year-old boy’s parents in a crash on Sunday night.

Twenty-three-year-old Hunter Ethan Elliott is accused of driving while intoxicated and rear-ending the family’s vehicle.

He was denied bond on Tuesday after he was charged with a slew of offenses including first-degree vehicular homicide, DUI, felony hit-and-run, and serious injury by vehicle.

The wreck in Blairsville resulted in the death of Cohen Zayne Bryson.

According to Georgia State Patrol, Elliott was driving a Ford Super Duty truck toward the intersection of Ga. 2 and Blue Ridge Drive between 10:30 and 11 p.m.

A Ford Escape driven by Joshua Bryson, 24, was at the intersection. The toddler was in the backseat while his mother Santana Kelley, 23, was in the front.

The Escape was rear-ended by Elliott’s truck. Cohen was killed and his parents were sent to a hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

According to a GoFundMe page set up for the family, Kelley is 25 weeks pregnant while Bryson received several broken bones.

Elliott was injured in the accident but GSP said he refused medical treatment.

He was booked into the Fannin County Jail.

Meanwhile, a woman has been charged in connection with a road-rage crash that claimed the life of a 25-year-old mother and injured her six-year-old daughter on Friday.

Deputies in Cherokee County said Carolyn Rampley of Canton was the motorist involved in a dispute with Ashley Faucett just before Faucett’s SUV left I-575 and crashed in the woods.

Rampley was charged with reckless driving, first-degree vehicular homicide, aggressive driving and hit-and-run, authorities said.

She is being held without bond at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.

Investigators believe Rampley directly caused Faucett to run off the road. She was apprehended after someone aware of Friday’s crash saw her driving recklessly in the same area again. They called the authorities.
